On May 29, at the training ground of the 3rd Central Research Institute of the Ministry of Defense in Bronnitsy (Moscow Region), a demonstration of modern and promising models of Russian-made automotive equipment took place. Several organizations showed their latest developments. Most of the machines shown in Bronnitsy are already known to specialists and amateurs of military equipment. In addition, the exhibition showed a new armored car "Ansyr", developed by order of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
The armored car "Ansyr" was developed by specialists of the department "Wheeled vehicles" (CM-10) MGTU im. N. E. Bauman. The tender for the development of a promising armored car with the code "Ansyr" (Ansyr or Antsyr is an ancient unit of mass, equal to 1, 3 pounds or 128 spools) was announced in the spring of 2011. A promising armored vehicle is intended for use in various divisions of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and, possibly, the armed forces. The mission of this vehicle is to patrol, support special operations, as well as escort and guard convoys. When developing this machine, the need to protect the crew and machine assemblies from small arms bullets and fragments of explosive devices or shells was taken into account. In addition, the authors of the project paid great attention to the possibility of crossing water obstacles by swimming.
When examining the Ansyr armored car, the first thing that catches the eye is its characteristic appearance, which makes one recall some foreign vehicles of this class. Some of the design features of the Ansyr are reminiscent of the French Panhard VBL armored car and the Turkish Otocar Cobra. It is noteworthy that several years ago there were active rumors about the possibility of licensed production of French VBL cars at Russian enterprises, which, however, have not received any confirmation.
The Ansyr armored car has a combat weight of 4 tons and is capable of reaching speeds of up to 125 km / h on the highway. It is claimed that it takes 25 seconds to accelerate to 100 km / h. These characteristics are provided by a two-axle all-wheel drive chassis and a 180 hp engine. The engine type is unknown. The armored car is equipped with independent wheel suspension. The type of shock absorbers is unknown. It is known that the wheels of the Ansyr armored car must have a tire pressure regulation system. An important feature of the armored car is the ability to swim. According to reports, the new armored car can be on the water for at least an hour and move at a wave height of up to 30 cm. The maximum speed on the water, achieved with the help of rotating wheels, reaches 5 km / h.
The armored body of the Ansyr machine, according to official data, meets the requirements of the 5th class of protection according to the national classification and is capable of withstanding the hit of a 7.62 mm rifle bullet without an armor-piercing core. The body of the new car is assembled from several rectilinear panels, mated at different angles. The hull layout is standard for light armored vehicles. The engine and part of the transmission units are located in the front of the hull, and the rest of the hull volume is given to the manned compartment. In order to cool the engine, shutters are provided in the hood and sides of the body. To increase the level of protection, comparatively thick windshields are installed at an angle to the vertical.
In the habitable volume of the hull, there are three places for the crew: two in the front and one in the stern. For embarkation and disembarkation, the crew must use two doors in the sides of the hull and one in the stern. Crew members in the front seats can observe the situation through large windshields and glass doors. The shooter has three relatively small windows in the sides and a stern door. Glazing of doors and side windows are equipped with loopholes for firing personal weapons.
In the aft part of the roof of the Ansyr armored car, shown in Bronnitsy, there is a turret for installing weapons. Unfortunately, the turret of the prototype was covered with a canvas cover, from under which only the arm for mounting the weapon protruded. According to the development organization, the Ansyr armored car can be armed with a large-caliber machine gun or an automatic grenade launcher.
In November last year, a prototype of the Ansyr armored car went for preliminary tests. Apparently, during the tests, the machine confirmed the calculated characteristics. There is no exact information about further work within the framework of the project. Probably, at present, the Moscow State Technical University. Bauman and related organizations are testing and fine-tuning the machine.
The Ansyr armored car, as follows from the available data, is of certain interest. This is a light armored vehicle with a good level of protection, capable of solving various tasks that arise for the units of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. At the same time, some doubts can be caused by the ability of the car to float, since units of the Ministry of Internal Affairs extremely rarely have to deal with water obstacles. Nevertheless, "Ansyr" does not have any separate propellers for moving on the water, which does not lead to a complication of the design.
The use of a large-caliber machine gun or automatic grenade launcher as a weapon can significantly increase the flexibility of the vehicle, since it will be possible to install the most suitable weapon for the current tasks. Also armored car "Ansyr", probably, can be equipped with various towers or combat modules with weapons.
The further fate of the Ansyr project is still unknown. Perhaps new messages about a new armored car for the Ministry of Internal Affairs will appear in the near future.
