It is often necessary to transport military cargo within the territory of the Russian Federation and beyond its borders. Today, cargo transportation of the military segment is used to prepare large-scale exercises at various bases and training grounds. It is reported that for the preparation of the Kavkaz-2012 exercise, which aroused great interest not only in Russia, but also abroad, thousands of tons of cargo of various directions were transported to the venues. This is not only special equipment, communication systems, ammunition, but also navigation systems, the latest automated combat firing control devices and much more.
If military cargo is transported by rail, then special platforms can be used for this, on which the equipment is installed and fixed using special fasteners. In addition, equipment and various means and apparatus can be "packed" in special containers, which are installed on the appropriate platforms for container transportation. For equipment that needs special protection, today special armored cars and also armored containers are used that can withstand not only a direct bullet hit from a Kalashnikov assault rifle, but even a shot fired from an under-barrel grenade launcher.
Special military containers are specially marked. They are used for transportation not only by rail, but also by sea, as well as by air.
Special cargo that has a special hazard class (explosives, ammunition) are placed in special boxes with appropriate marking. This marking plays an important role when performing rigging work. Indeed, with an ill-conceived program of loading and unloading operations, with inept use of loading equipment, ammunition can detonate in boxes, which will lead to tragic consequences. That is why today, experienced specialists with special skills and who have undergone all types of instructions are allowed to rig work with shells and explosives.
Transportation of military cargo in Russia can be carried out, including by road. For this, both heavy-duty "Urals" and smaller vehicles are used.
