Thanks to the work of the press service of the Western Military District, we once again visited our almost "home" EW brigade, which, by the way, will celebrate its 55th anniversary on February 23rd.

The term, however …

Since our last visit, the team managed to become the best in the district at the end of 2017 and received a certain amount of completely new equipment.

The words "a certain amount" are appropriate here for two reasons. Firstly, so as not to disclose, and secondly, there is also an economic component.

The neighbors, an air defense brigade, completely renewed their fleet last year. We wrote about this, and as soon as the retraining is over, I think we'll look at how it went.

So, the complete rearmament of the air defense brigade cost less in rubles than replacing several pieces of equipment from the Rebovs. Yes, electronic warfare is not a cheap story.

But back to our today's object of admiration.

Yes, after everything seen before, "Krasukha-2O" is impressive. First of all - in size. We can say that the "O" in the abbreviation of the name is an abbreviation of the word "huge" or "awesome". In various variations.

Let no one be confused by this angle of inclination of the reflector, everything is in order. It should be so. "Krasukha-2o" works on objects located at a considerable distance, so "shooting at the zenith" is useless for it.

In principle, the range of application would allow it to work out on satellites in low orbits, but … A different operating frequency range. So "AWACS", if anything - catch it.

"Krasukha-2O" is capable of confidently working at distances of up to 400 km.

Naturally, while the calculation was deploying the complex, I climbed into the cockpit. And then there was something to be surprised.

Yes, the previous AWACS fighter was housed in three trucks. Modernity in the form of digital circuits (the letter "o" in the name is not in vain, all the differences from the base model in this regard) made it possible to save space and cram everything into one car. Even of this size.

But inside, everything is like in a tank. I also noted that the fighters in the calculation … are small.

In comparison with its predecessors, "Krasukha-2o" is a miracle of miniaturization. If a 40-ton monster can be called that. But in return - mobility. Still, one car instead of three is serious.

A very useful unit, albeit a highly specialized one. Dangerous only for aerial reconnaissance, but dangerous in full.
