The main trend in the reform of the Air Force in most countries of the world in the period up to 2015 and beyond will be their quantitative reduction, while striving to increase combat effectiveness. This will lead to a narrowing of the fighter export market and, as a consequence, to a tougher competition. In the short term, this situation will be exacerbated by the global economic crisis that began in 2008. In this situation, the competition in the world fighter market will intensify even more.
The main way to increase the combat effectiveness of the Air Force with their quantitative reduction is the introduction of new multifunctional fighters.
In this segment of the market, Russia is waging a tough competition with the leading Western manufacturers of military equipment. The main competitors of AHK Sukhoi and RSK MiG are the American companies Lockheed Martin (F-16, F-35) and Boeing (F-15, F / A-18), as well as the Western European consortium Eurofighter (EF-2000). In some regional markets, Russian companies will compete with the Swedish company SAAB (JAS-39 Gripen), the French Dassault (Rafal) and the Chinese Chengdu (J-7, J-10, JF-17).
MAIN PLAYERS IN THE GLOBAL MULTIFUNCTIONAL FIGHTERS MARKET
F-35
The initial calculation was based on the fact that the partner countries in the F-35 program of the Lockheed Martin company can purchase 722 fighters: Australia - up to 100 units, Canada - 60 units, Denmark - 48 units, Italy - 131 units, Netherlands - 85 units, Norway - 48 units, Turkey - 100 units. and Great Britain - 150 units. (90 for the Air Force and 60 for the Navy). The needs of two non-risk partners, Singapore and Israel, were identified at 100 and 75 units. respectively. That is, in total, the maximum is 897 units, and taking into account the order of the Air Force, Navy and USMC - 3340 units.
According to initial estimates, taking into account possible sales of the F-35 to other customers, by 2037 the total number of aircraft produced could reach 4,500 units. However, these plans have already been significantly adjusted downward.
The main problem of the F-35 at the moment is the increase in the cost of the program, and, accordingly, the increase in the cost of the aircraft, as well as the chronic lag behind the original schedule (now by more than two years). In addition, the F-35 should not be considered an undisputed procurement candidate by all program partner states. At the moment, almost all of these countries (with rare exceptions) are either considering the possibility of reducing the order, or looking for a more affordable alternative. Moreover, in most of these countries, the F-35 will participate in tenders, that is, no direct purchase is planned.
The weakness of the F-35 export program is that in the face of fierce competition from European fighters and Russia, Lockheed Martin underestimates the market of those countries for which offset offers and the participation of local industry are mandatory in the conclusion of military contracts.
Nevertheless, despite the problems of the program, the entry into the world market of the F-35 fighter will significantly change the situation and the balance of power. At the initial stage of export deliveries of the F-35 (from 2014 to 2017), these changes will not be so significant. However, in the longer term, the F-35 and the Russian PAK FA will be the only fifth generation fighters on the market.
F-16 "Fighting Falcon"
The Lockheed Martin F-16 Fighting Falcon tactical fighter is one of the leaders in terms of the number of aircraft delivered to the American and foreign markets and has been produced for over 30 years.
More than 4,400 F-16s of various types were built on assembly lines located in five countries. The US Air Force and National Guard are armed with more than 1,300 aircraft of this type. Production of the F-16 for the US Air Force is complete. The last 2231st F-16C purchased by the US Air Force was handed over in March 2005. F-16 fighters will remain in the US Air Force until 2025 and will be gradually replaced by the F-35. Now the production of the F-16 is carried out only for export supplies.
At the moment, F-16 fighters have been chosen by customers from 25 countries, including Israel, Italy, Jordan, Egypt, Morocco, Turkey, Poland, Pakistan, UAE, Oman, Bahrain, etc. (more than 2200 machines have been exported in total). Lockheed Martin currently has 103 orders for the supply of F-16 aircraft, and their production is expected to continue until at least 2014 (including the order from Iraq).
However, Lockheed management admits that the deadline for the F-16 production program is nearing completion.
In the period 2002-2005. 292 new F-16 fighters were exported for $ 12, 364 billion, in 2006-2009. - 189 units in the amount of $ 10, 9 billion. The current portfolio of orders with delivery in 2010-2013. is 157 cars worth $ 10.3 billion.
F / A-18 Hornet, F / A-18E / F Super Hornet and F-15 Eagle
The Boeing F / A-18 Hornet fighter is in service with the US Navy and Marine Corps, as well as 7 foreign countries. In total, more than 1,700 F / A-18s of various modifications were produced. About 1200 aircraft are in service with the US Navy and Marine Corps, more than 400 units. delivered to the air forces of Australia, Spain, Canada, Kuwait, Malaysia, Finland and Switzerland.
Currently, the last modification is in production - F / A-18E / F "Super Hornet". F / A-18E is a single-seat version of a fighter, F / A-18F is a two-seater.
The first foreign customer of the F / A-18E / F Super Hornet fighters was the Australian Ministry of Defense, which in April 2007 ordered 24 units. "Super Hornet" worth about $ 2.9 billion.
Boeing with F / A-18E / F Super Hornet is participating in a number of tenders and has a fairly high chance of winning. In particular, the F / A-18E / F Super Hornet participates in tenders for the Brazilian Air Force (36 units), Greece (40 units), Denmark (48 units), India (126 units), Romania (48 units)..), Japan (100 units).
Taking into account possible "additional deliveries" of F / A-18E / F to countries already in service with F / A-18, as well as the results of tenders, the total sales of F / A-18E / F on the world market in the period up to 2015 can be up to 100 units.
F-15 "Eagle" fighter of various modifications manufactured by "Boeing" in the amount of about 1000 units. is in service with the US Air Force. In addition, F-15s were delivered to the Air Forces of Israel, Saudi Arabia, Japan and South Korea (more than 400 units).
Serial production began in 1974. Currently, the current production is a modification of the F-15E "Strike Eagle", which is a two-seat multifunctional fighter.
In total, more than 1,500 F-15 aircraft of various modifications were manufactured. According to the plans of the US Air Force, the F-15 of the latest modifications will be in service until 2020 until they are completely replaced by the F-22 Raptor fighters.
Taking into account the problems that may arise for a number of potential customers of F-35 fighters, Boeing has developed a prototype of the F-15SE Silent Eagle fighter, in the design of which the technologies of fifth-generation aircraft are used, including anti-radar coverage, conformal arrangement of systems weapons, digital avionics, as well as a V-shaped tail unit.
Boeing is now offering the F-15SE for the tender of the South Korean Air Force (60 units), Japan (100 units). The total sales of F-15E to the foreign market in the period up to 2015 can be up to 100 units. In the period 2002-2005. Boeing exported 4 new F-15 and F / A-18 fighters worth $ 460 million, in 2006-2009. - 36 units in the amount of $ 4, 14 billion. The current portfolio of orders with delivery in 2010-2013.is 69 cars worth $ 8, 42 billion.
Eurofighter
In 2002, the consortium signed the first export contract with the Austrian government for the supply of 18 Tranche-2 fighters for the amount of 1.95 billion euros ($ 2.55 billion). However, then, at the insistence of the Austrian side, the Austrian Ministry of Defense and Eurofighter reached an agreement on the purchase of only 15 Tranche-1 vehicles worth 1.55 billion euros.
The second export customer was Saudi Arabia, which in September 2007 entered into a contract with BAe Systems worth £ 4,430 million ($ 8.86 billion) for the delivery of 72 EF-2000 Typhoon aircraft, as well as the transfer of production technologies. investing in the defense industry of Saudi Arabia. At the same time, the cost of the acquired aircraft is identical to the price at which they are purchased by the British Air Force (about $ 62 million per unit).
Now the Eurofighter consortium participates in almost all major international tenders.
In the period 2006-2009. Eurofighter has exported 23 new EF-2000 Typhoon fighters worth $ 2.68 billion. Current order book with delivery in 2010-2013. is 42 cars worth $ 5.17 billion.
Rafale
The aircraft was developed by the Dassault company in standard and deck versions and was intended to replace, first of all, the Jaguar Air Force fighter-bombers and the Super Etandar carrier-based fighter-bombers of the Navy.
Serial production of the conventional version of the Rafal fighter began in 1998, and its carrier-based modification - in 1999. The first Rafale aviation squadron was completed in 2002 and reached operational readiness by mid-2006.
Until now, the French Armed Forces are the only customer of the Rafale fighter. The UAE Air Force may become the first foreign customer. France has no orders for the supply of Mirage-2000 fighters (in 2002-2009, 54 new Mirage-2000 fighters were exported for $ 3.5 billion).
JAS-39 Gripen
Despite the economic crisis, the Swedish government intends to fully finance the program to create a fifth generation fighter based on the existing "Gripen". Initially, an order for a batch of 10 new aircraft is expected. The attractiveness of the Gripen for many countries is explained by its high tactical and technical characteristics and favorable financial and economic terms of delivery.
In the period 2002-2005. 14 new fighters JAS-39 "Gripen" were exported for the amount of $ 775 million, in 2006-2009. - 24 units in the amount of $ 1, 62 billion. The current portfolio of orders with delivery in 2010-2013. is 25 cars worth $ 1.6 billion.
J-7, J-10, JF-17
China is currently competing with world leaders only in the markets of third world countries. In particular, the Chengdu JF-17 is in some cases a direct competitor to the Russian MiG-29.
In the period 2002-2005. China exported 35 new fighters of various types for the amount of $ 350 million, in 2006-2009. - 25 units. in the amount of $ 405 million. The current portfolio of orders with delivery in 2010-2013. is 129 cars worth $ 2.82 billion.
COMPANY "DRY" IN THE WORLD MARKET OF MULTIFUNCTIONAL FIGHTERS
Until 2015, Sukhoi intends to maintain its position on the world market of multifunctional fighters by increasing export deliveries of Su-27SK and Su-30MK fighters and launching the Su-35 into serial production. The development of the Su-35 multifunctional fighter will allow Sukhoi to remain competitive in the field of heavy fighters until approximately 2020. From 2017, the company plans to begin export deliveries of fifth-generation fighters.
By the middle of this decade, the markets of the main buyers of Su fighters - China and India - were almost completely saturated, and in the foreseeable future they will not carry out new such large-scale purchases of Russian combat aircraft. Nevertheless, both of these countries in the future will acquire Russian fighters, but in much smaller quantities.
In the face of narrowing markets in China and India, Sukhoi has concentrated its efforts on diversifying importers of the Su aircraft. The competent marketing policy pursued for many years by the management of Sukhoi has ensured high performance. Major contracts have been signed with Malaysia, Indonesia, Algeria, Venezuela and Vietnam. In a number of these countries, Sukhoi managed to win in the face of fierce competition with leading Western manufacturers of multifunctional fighters. This allows us to say that the Sukhoi company managed to turn the tide and solve the most difficult task of diversifying importers of Russian fighters.
THE RANGE OF MULTIFUNCTIONAL FIGHTERS OF THE "DRY" COMPANY
Su-27 / Su-30
The development of the Su-27 aircraft began in 1971, the first flight of the prototype took place in 1977. Since 1982, more than 900 aircraft of various modifications have been built.
China
China is the largest buyer of the Su-27 / Su-30 aircraft. For the period from 1991 to 1997. 50 Su-27 fighters were delivered to China, including 38 single-seat Su-27SK aircraft and 12 two-seat Su-27UBK for the amount of about $ 1.7 billion.
In 1996, China acquired a license to manufacture 200 Su-27SK aircraft without the right to re-export to third countries. The cost of this deal is estimated at $ 2.5 billion. The fighters were assembled at an aircraft building plant in Shenyang. By the end of 2004, a total of 105 vehicle sets had been delivered. All 105 aircraft were assembled by the end of 2007. Subsequently, negotiations on the supply of another 95 vehicle kits for the assembly of the Su-27SK reached a dead end. In fact, China refused to further implement this licensing program.
In 2000-2001. 38 multipurpose two-seat Su-30MKK fighters were delivered to China under a $ 1.5 billion contract signed in 1999.
In 2000-2002. As part of the repayment of the state debt by Russia, China received 28 two-seat Su-27UBK combat training fighters.
In 2003, Sukhoi completed the second supply contract for Su-30MKK fighters for China. Under this contract, the PLA Air Force delivered 38 vehicles.
In autumn 2004, KnAAPO completed the delivery of 24 Su-30MK2 fighters for the Chinese Navy. All Su-30MK2 planes supplied by the PLA are naval and have extended functions of action against surface targets using Kh-31A anti-ship missiles.
Due to the fact that China demanded the transfer of technology for the production of the Su-30MK2, which fits into the general trend in its military-technical cooperation policy with Russia, negotiations on the supply of the second batch of these aircraft (also 24 aircraft) went on for a long time and tensely. As of early 2010, no specific agreements have been reached.
In total, 178 fighters of the Su-27 / Su-30 family were delivered to China, including 38 single-seat Su-27SK fighters and 40 two-seat Su-27UBK combat training aircraft without the functions of using guided weapons against ground targets, 76 multi-role Su- 30MKK and 24 Su-30MK2 fighters. Taking into account the Su-27SK assembled in Shenyang, the total number of Su fighters delivered to China is 283 units.
India
The Security Committee of the Government of India in early June 2010 approved the conclusion of an agreement for the purchase of an additional 42 Su-30MKI fighters, the cost of which is estimated at 150 billion rupees (about $ 3.22 billion). The contract is scheduled to be signed in 2010.
After the licensed production of this batch of aircraft is completed, the total number of Russian Su-30MKI fighters in service with the Indian Air Force will be 270 units.
The delivery of the aircraft is planned to be completed by 2018, after which the Su-30MKI will become the main combat aircraft in service with the Indian Air Force. Thus, the transition to the Su-30MKI from the outdated MiG-21 fighters, which until recently formed the basis of the country's air force, will be fully completed.
It is planned that production of a batch of 42 Su-30MKIs will begin at the HAL plant in 2014. According to forecasts, the cost of one fighter will be 3.5 billion rupees ($ 75 million).
The decision to purchase an additional batch of Su-30MKI was made at the end of 2009. Initially, it was planned to purchase 40 aircraft, but then the number of purchased aircraft was increased by 2 units. to make up for losses (in April and November last year, two Su-30MKIs crashed in India).
The Su-30MKI will be the dominant fighter in the Indian Air Force, and their combined cost will be double the cost of purchasing multi-role mid-range fighters under the MMRCA program.
An initial contract worth $ 1.462 billion, providing for the delivery of 40 Su-30MKI fighters to the Indian Air Force, was signed on November 30, 1996. Under this contract, the first 8 aircraft were manufactured in the Su-30K version and handed over to the customer in 1997. of the specified contract were delivered in the Su-30MKI version in three batches (10, 12 and 10 vehicles) in the 1st, 2nd and final configuration.
In 1998, the Indian Ministry of Defense ordered 10 additional Su-30K aircraft worth $ 277 million.
In 2000, an agreement was concluded worth $ 3.5 billion for the licensed production of 140 Su-30MKI fighters at HAL's facilities from vehicle kits supplied by Russia.
In 2007, another contract was signed to supply the Indian Air Force with 40 additional Su-30MKI aircraft worth $ 1.6 billion. The contract is to be implemented in 2008-2010.
In addition, an agreement was implemented for the supply of 18 Su-30MKI under the "trade-in" scheme in exchange for the previously purchased 18 Su-30K aircraft.
In recent years, HAL has accelerated the schedule for the licensed production of the Su-30MKI. In 2009, the Indian Air Force was supplied with 23 fighters. In 2010, it is planned to transfer 28 Su-30MKI. To date, HAL has supplied the Indian Air Force with 74 license-built Su-30MKI fighters. The assembly of all 140 Su-30MKI fighters at HAL facilities is planned to be completed in 2014, after which production of an additional 42 aircraft will begin.
A promising area of further cooperation with India is equipping Su-30MKI fighters with the Brahmos cruise missile. At the moment, JV BraMos Aerospace has completed work on the creation of an airborne modification of the air-based Brahmos missile launcher. The next step will be the integration of the aviation version of the Brahmos rocket. The first tests of the airborne version of the Brahmos missile are scheduled for late 2010 - early 2011. It is planned to complete the flight test complex of the Brahmos missile integrated on board the Su-30MKI in 2012. At the first stage, it is planned to equip 40 Su-30MKI fighters of the Indian Air Force, including two test samples of the Su-30MKI.
The adaptation of the BR "Bramos" to the Su-30MKI fighter will significantly increase the export potential of both the missiles of this type and the Su-30MK fighters. Several countries, which are already armed with Su-30MK fighters, have shown interest in adapting them for the installation of an aviation version of the KR "Brahmos". Orders for the supply of new Su-30MKs, already adapted for the Brahmos KR, are also not excluded.
Vietnam
Vietnam began to actively purchase aviation equipment from Russia since the mid-1990s. after a long period of decline in bilateral military-technical cooperation. In 1995, Vietnam purchased in Russia the first batch of six Su-27 aircraft (5 Su-27SK and one Su-27UBK) for $ 150 million. At the beginning of 1997, Hanoi purchased the second batch of six Su-27s (5 Su -27SK and one Su-27UBK).
In December 2003, Rosoboronexport signed a contract for the supply of four Su-30MK aircraft to Vietnam. The basic version of the Su-30MK was adapted in accordance with the requirements of the Vietnamese Air Force. The delivery took place in 2004.
Taking into account the cost of the basic version of the Su-30MK, aircraft weapons, spare parts and necessary modifications in accordance with the requirements of the Vietnamese side, the contract value was about $ 120 million.
In early 2009, a contract was signed for the supply of eight Su-30MK2 (without aircraft armament) for about $ 400 million.
In February 2010, Russia and Vietnam signed a contract for the supply of 12 Su-30MK2 fighters and aircraft weapons. The deal is worth about $ 1 billion. The implementation of this contract will be carried out in 2011-2012. In addition, Vietnam will receive aviation weapons and spare parts not only for these aircraft, but also for fighters ordered in 2009.
Taking into account the additional purchase of Su-30MK aircraft, the Sukhoi company is negotiating the creation of a regional center for the maintenance of Su-aircraft in Vietnam.
Malaysia
In 2003, a contract was signed for the supply of 18 Su-30MKM aircraft to the Malaysian Air Force for about $ 910 million. The deliveries of fighters under this contract were completed in 2009.
The Su-30MKM fighter (multipurpose, commercial, Malaysian) is based on the Su-30MKI fighter developed for the Indian Air Force. At the same time, this machine has a number of differences, as it is adapted to the requirements of the Malaysian Air Force. In the final part of the tender, the Su-30MKM competed with the American F / A-18E / F.
As part of the Malaysian contract, a large number of technical negotiations were held with suppliers of foreign equipment for the Su-30MKM aircraft to interface it based on the experience that has already been gained with the Su-30MKI. A lot of work has been done to organize international cooperation.
In the spring of 2010, Malaysia announced a request for proposals for a new tender for the supply of multifunctional fighters. As part of the purchase of new fighters, the Malaysian Ministry of Defense intends to purchase a total of up to 36 aircraft.
Applicants for participation in the new tender are Su-30MKM, F / A-18E / F Super Hornet, F-16C / D Block-52 Fighting Falcon, F-15 Eagle, JAS-39 Gripen "," Rafale "and EF-2000" Typhoon ". Taking into account the long-term operation of the Su-30MKM and F / A-18D Hornet aircraft in the Malaysian Air Force, as well as the desire of the Air Force leadership to unify the fleet of multipurpose fighters, the Su-30MKM and F / A-18E have a higher chance of winning the tender / F "Super Hornet".
Algeria
In November 2009, Russia handed over the last batch of Su-30MKA fighters to the Algerian Air Force under a contract signed in 2006 for the supply of 28 Su-30 MKA. In 2008, Algeria sent an application to the FSMTC about its intention to purchase an additional batch of Su-30MKA aircraft.
In March 2010, a contract was signed with Algeria for the supply of 16 Su-30MKA fighters, the cost of which is estimated at about $ 1 billion. This contract is the exercise of an option to the agreement signed in 2006 worth about $ 1.5 billion for the supply of 28 fighters. Su-30MKA. Deliveries under the new contract will begin in 2011.
Libya
According to the latest data, the package contract in negotiations with Libya includes, along with other types of weapons, 12-15 units. Su-35 and 4 units. Su-30MK.
Indonesia
In August 2007, a contract was signed for the supply of three Su-30MK2 and three Su-27SKM fighters to Indonesia. Three Su-30MK2s were delivered in 2008-2009, and three Su-27SKMs will be handed over to the customer in 2010. The total cost of the agreement is estimated at $ 335 million. a full-fledged squadron. The first four fighters (2 Su-27SK and 2 Su-30MK) were purchased and delivered to the Indonesian Air Force in 2003.
Indonesia is expected to conclude a new contract for the supply of aircraft of the Su-27 / Su-30 family in the future. In general, the Indonesian Air Force plans to form two squadrons consisting of Russian aircraft (24 aircraft).
Venezuela
In 2008, the Venezuelan Air Force completed deliveries of 24 Su-30MK2V fighters under a contract signed in 2006. After that, negotiations on the supply of a second batch of fighters were intensified.
Venezuela has expressed its intention to purchase 24 Su-30MK2 / Su-35 fighters (Venezuela may become the first customer for the Su-35).
Perhaps the new contract for the supply of fighters is part of a package agreement for the supply of several types of weapons, concluded during the visit of Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin to Venezuela in April 2010. Since there is no official data on the signing of a contract for fighters, at the moment this program is still classified as prospective purchases.
Su-brand fighters may take part in a number of tenders planned to be announced in the near future. Some of them are listed below.
Bangladesh
The Ministry of Defense of Bangladesh in February 2010 announced its intention to renew the fleet of military aircraft. For this, the country plans to acquire one squadron of fighters.
Serbia
The Ministry of Defense of Serbia is considering the possibility of acquiring modern multipurpose fighters capable of performing the tasks of gaining air superiority, engaging ground targets, and conducting reconnaissance. The type and number of aircraft are currently not defined. Among the possible options are considered Su-30, MiG-29, F-16 Fighting Falcon, F-18E / F Super Hornet, EF-2000 Eurofighter and JAS-39 Gripen.
Philippines
The Philippine Air Force intends to restore the fleet of fighter aircraft as part of the planned for 2011-2012. new aircraft procurement programs, totaling about 50 billion Philippine pesos ($ 1.1 billion). The number and type of fighters that are planned to be purchased have not yet been determined, however, available options that the country's budget can afford will be considered. For the implementation of the project, the Air Force plans to send a request to the government for the allocation of $ 1.1 billion separately from the funds allocated for the implementation of the program of modernization of the country's Armed Forces. The project is expected to start in 2011 or 2012.
Su-35
Sukhoi associates its immediate future in the world fighter market with the Su-35 aircraft. This aircraft should take place between the Su-30MK multifunctional fighter and the promising 5th generation aircraft.
Su-35 aircraft will allow Sukhoi to remain competitive until the fifth generation fighter enters the market. The main volume of export supplies of the Su-35 can be predicted for the period 2013-2020. Serial production is scheduled to begin at the end of 2010.
Export deliveries of the Su-35 are planned to the countries of Southeast Asia, Africa, the Middle East and South America. Among the first possible buyers of the Su-35 should be noted Venezuela and Libya.
PAK FA
The declared technical characteristics of the PAK FA correspond, and in a number of parameters, surpass the most advanced American fighter F-22, whose task is to ensure air superiority.
The F-16, F-15 and F / A-18 aircraft will not be able to adequately withstand the Russian fighter. As for the F-35, it is already experiencing difficulties in countering the Su-35 with its low ESR. With its further planned reduction on the PAK FA, the F-35 fighter will experience even greater problems.
Russia may begin serial production of the fifth generation fighter by 2015
India will participate in the PAK FA program. At the moment, Russia and India have agreed on the contribution of each of the parties to the project to create a fifth generation fighter. In 2010, Russia and India will sign a contract on the preliminary design of the 5th generation fighter. A new aspect in the program is that the Indian Air Force announced its intention to adopt both a two-seat version (which was originally planned, according to the Indian Air Force's construction plans) and a single-seat version.
Roughly, the total production volume in 25-35 years can be at least 600-700 aircraft, and the market as a whole - more than 1,000 aircraft. The volume of purchases from India will be at least 250 units.
Joint work will be carried out on both versions of the aircraft. At the first stage, the parties will only deal with the one-seater version of the PAK FA, and work on the two-seater will begin later. Moreover, both versions will be produced for the Indian Air Force. The Indian Air Force has already formulated the technical requirements for its single-seat version and handed over the relevant documentation to the Russian side.
HAL, which will participate in the development program from India, expects to transfer the first aircraft to the national air force in 2017.
Despite the fact that Russia withdrew from the Brazilian Air Force tender for the purchase of aircraft under the F-X program, it is possible that in the future Brazil will join the Russian Federation and India under the PAK FA program. Brazil is reportedly considering this possibility.
RSC "MIG" ON THE WORLD MARKET OF MULTIFUNCTIONAL FIGHTERS
In the segment of middle class aircraft, the main program of the RSK MiG for the future is the MiG-35 fighter. This is a new product oriented both to the needs of the Russian Air Force and to meet the needs of foreign customers. The second largest project, also focused on both the domestic and foreign markets, is the MiG-29K / KUB program.
MiG-35
The MiG-35 participates in the Indian Air Force tender for the supply of 126 medium fighters. In case of winning the tender, the Indian side will be given the deepest license for the production of the MiG-35.
In the future, Yemen is considered as a potential customer for the MiG-35.
In February 2009, the Croatian Ministry of Defense, due to the economic crisis, decided to postpone the start of the tender planned for the second half of 2009 for the purchase of 12 multirole fighters for a period of two to five years. According to the latest estimate by the Croatian MoD, the procurement program will cost about 5 billion Croatian kuna ($ 844 million). Previously, the project was estimated at 2.64 billion Croatian kuna. In the future, the number of aircraft purchased can be increased to 16 or 18 units. (12-14 singles and 4 doubles). RSK MiG with MiG-35, Lockheed Martin with F-16 Block-52 Fighting Falcon, SAAB with JAS-39C / D Gripen, Dassault with Rafale fighter are going to take part in the tender ", Consortium" Eurofighter "with EF-2000" Typhoon ".
MiG-29
The MiG-29 has been mass-produced since 1982. Work on the creation of the MiG-29 began in 1970. The first flight of an experimental MiG-29 fighter (series 9-12) took place in 1977. More than 1,500 MiG-29 aircraft of various modifications were manufactured in total. The aircraft was delivered to more than 20 countries in the amount of more than 550 units (excluding the CIS countries).
Currently, the Ministry of Defense of Yemen is negotiating with Russia on the purchase of a large batch of weapons for a total of up to $ 1 billion. Including the purchase of another batch of fighters is expected.
MiG-29
Syria is one of Russia's most promising partners in the Middle East. Syria is considered as a potential customer for up to 50 MiG-29SMT.
The order of the MiG-29 can also become (under certain conditions) the Egyptian Air Force, but in this market Russia faced stiff competition from China.
As part of the implementation of the order for the modernization and supply of the Indian Navy aircraft carrier "Admiral Gorshkov", the MiG Corporation in 2004 signed a contract for the supply of 16 carrier-based fighters to India (12 single-seat combat MiG-29K and 4 two-seat combat training MiG-29KUB) … The cost of the contract for the supply of the aviation group is $ 700 million. In 2010, the option for the supply of 29 more MiG-29Ks was exercised. In total, in the future, the Indian Navy plans to be armed with up to 50 MiG-29K / KUB.
RSK MiG is implementing several large export contracts for the modernization of MiG aircraft (these programs are provided for reference). In particular, a large-scale program is being carried out to modernize the MiG-29 fleet of the Indian Air Force (a total of 63 units worth $ 964 million) and the Peruvian Air Force (19 MiG-29s worth $ 106 million). Over the past five years, MiG-29 modernization or repair programs have been implemented with Bulgaria, Hungary, Yemen, Serbia, Poland, Slovakia, and Eritrea.
As mentioned above, over the entire existence of the MiG-29 program, a total of more than 550 units have been exported. MiG-29 (excluding CIS countries). Below is a table on contracts and supplies of MiG-29 fighters of various modifications over the past 10 years.
WORLD EXPORT OF NEW FIGHTERS IN 2010-2013 FORECAST OF SUPPLIES OF RUSSIAN MULTI-PURPOSE FIGHTERS.
Sukhoi company
The share of Sukhoi in the value of world exports of new multifunctional fighters in the next 4-year period (2010-2013) will be 14.5%, in quantitative terms - 21.3%.
In 2010-2013.for foreign customers, the delivery of 175 new Su brand fighters is forecasted for the amount of $ 7, 72 billion.
In general, the volume of world exports of new multifunctional fighters in the period 2010-2013. will amount to 821 units. worth $ 53.32 billion.
When calculating the market, only deliveries of new machines were taken into account under already concluded contracts, licensed programs, as well as planned deliveries under contracts that are at the final stage of discussion.
Sukhoi may increase its share in the global fighter market in 2010-2013. in case of winning the tender held by the Ministry of Defense of Malaysia.
RSK "MiG"
The share of RSK MiG in the value of world exports of new fighters in the coming 4-year period (2010-2013) will be 4.5%, in quantitative terms - 6.9%. In 2010-2013. 57 new MiG fighters worth $ 2.41 billion will be delivered to foreign customers.
If the Indian Air Force wins the tender for the supply of 126 medium multifunctional fighters, RSK MiG will significantly increase its market share in the period after 2013, since the bulk of deliveries are planned for 2014 and beyond.
TOTAL VOLUME OF SUPPLIES OF RUSSIAN FIGHTERS
The total number of projected export deliveries by Russia of new multifunctional fighters "Su" and "MiG" in 2010-2013. (including licensed programs), is estimated at 232 aircraft worth $ 10, 124 billion. This will make, respectively, 28, 25% of the total number of new fighters exported by all world companies. In value terms, the share of Russia is estimated at 19%. This share may increase significantly if the Su-30MK wins the tender of the Malaysian Air Force, as well as the MiG-35 in the Indian Air Force tender.
In general, it should be noted that due to the expansion of the geography of supplies, Russia managed to compensate for the losses associated with the lack of orders from China, which until 2005 was the largest importer of Russian fighters. Although the share of Russia in the world market has slightly decreased, in terms of value, there is a significant increase in supplies.
For comparison: in 2006-2009. the share of Su and MiG fighters in the world market of new fighters in quantitative terms amounted to 32.9% (159 units) and 24.3% in value terms ($ 6.76 billion). All suppliers in 2006-2009 483 new fighters were exported for $ 27.82 billion.

CONCLUSION
The successful promotion of Russian aircraft products on the world market of multifunctional fighters at the turn of 2015 and beyond is associated with aircraft of the Su family (primarily the Su-35), the MiG family (primarily the MiG-35), and the PAK FA.
In the segment of middle class aircraft, the main program of the RSK MiG for the future is the MiG-35 fighter. The second largest project, also focused on both the domestic and foreign markets, is the MiG-29K / KUB program.
A fairly large niche for the medium term will remain with the MiG-29 fighter of various modifications. The main struggle for orders for the MiG-29 will unfold with China in the markets of relatively poor third world countries.
In the heavy aircraft segment, the proposed line of Sukhoi fighters in production, as well as a rational schedule of new aircraft entering the market developed by the Sukhoi management, will provide the company with a strong position in the global multifunctional fighter market in the short, medium and long term. It should be noted that the Sukhoi company, headed by Mikhail Poghosyan, managed to calculate and plan for the future the arrival of new Su-brand aircraft at the optimum time in terms of the American fifth-generation F-35 fighter entering the market.
Sukhoi's management has made a huge technological and marketing reserve in order for the company to retain its strong position as one of the leaders in the world market for heavy multifunctional fighters for the foreseeable future.
Sukhoi responded adequately to the desire of the purchasing countries to diversify the components included in the aviation complexes (weapons control systems, navigation, communications, weapons), which significantly increased the export potential of Russian aircraft.
