The first Mi-28Ns appeared at the Torzhok flight center more than 8 years ago and had a minimum of instruments. For example, the navigator had only a watch, a speed meter and an altimeter in the cockpit, everything else was covered with plugs. Flights on them were carried out practically around the tower. Since then, a lot has already been improved, but the avionics of the helicopter are still damp, there are constant improvements. As the pilots say: "The car is good, maneuverable, but the electronics are buggy."

On the Mi-28N, the navigator is engaged in the cannon and guided missiles, and the commander only NARs. As a last resort, the commander can use the cannon if it is stationary along the axis of the helicopter. The commander cannot use guided missiles.

The door to the navigator's cockpit

At the moment, Milevites have developed a more spacious cabin, because the current navigator is simply cramped. The new cockpit contains practically all the same instruments as those of the commander, but they are arranged more conveniently, now you do not need to rummage around to find them. The navigator will finally have a control stick for the car, which is not on the current versions.

A video recording system is installed on each helicopter, which removes the cockpit from three points, and the radio exchange is recorded. Also, for example, when flying out for combat use (shooting at the range), the commander specifically pronounces all his actions aloud, so that if something happens, you can make out the errors by listening to the audio recording of the objective control system.

Retraining on the Mi-28N from another helicopter takes about one and a half months before the first flight. From Monday to Saturday, daily classes of three pairs, then credits to engineers are taken. If you pass the test, you get admission to the first flight. First, flights through the system to the zone, then a cross-country flight, then a flight for combat use (shooting).

At the moment, there are problems with the heating system, because in winter, while the navigator is freezing, the commander is very hot. The air conditioner is working fine. Perhaps this problem will be solved in new helicopters.

By the way, the installation of new cabins on cars of previous releases does not seem to be planned yet.

In addition to flying boards, there are also decommissioned cars in the center.

These helicopters of the pilot batch (i.e. those produced by one of the first) clearly arrived after some tough tests.

On the first cars there were problems with the anti-icing system, because when it was turned on, the blades made of composite materials began to melt. The helicopter was specially ferried to Anadyr to test the new system in harsh conditions. At the moment it is functioning properly.

In December 2010, one of the "twenty-eighth" was tested in the Caucasus mountains, based at the Nalchik airfield. Now one of the Torzhok Ka-52s is undergoing similar tests there.

On February 15, 2011, not far from Budennovsk, one of the Mi-28N helicopters crashed, after which, until the causes of the disaster were clarified, flights on it were prohibited.

From the end of May it is allowed to fly again, because the cause of the accident was found. If earlier they sinned on problems with the gearbox, or blamed the unscrewed nut, then the investigation showed the following:

- in each gearbox there is a measuring window, through which the oil level is regulated. During one of the helicopter services, this window was slightly scorched by welding and darkened. As a result, this dark trail looked like an oil level. One of the engineers of the aviation complex (a helicopter technician who does not have a flight technician) instead of the prescribed 1.8 liters of oil, focusing on this strip, filled in only 0.75 liters. For nine and a half hours, the helicopter flew off, after which the oil ran out and the propeller began to collapse. It would seem just a dark spot, but such consequences …

At the moment, the Mi-28N is flying very actively in Torzhok.
