At the upcoming 14th International Exhibition of State Security Means INTERPOLITEX, which will be held from October 26 to October 29, 2010 in Moscow on the territory of the All-Russian Exhibition Center, the Military Industrial Company plans to present another new development.
At the company's stand (1C12), a full-scale sample of the new version, which has already become widely known in our country and abroad, the armored vehicle "Tiger" - VPK-233114 "Tiger-M" will be presented for the first time.
The machine was developed by the designers of the "Military Engineering Center" in order to expand the scope of the special vehicle "Tiger".
Its main feature is that it is equipped with a domestic diesel engine YaMZ-5347-10, made in accordance with the Euro-4 environmental standard. In addition, in the new Tiger model, some shortcomings identified during the operation and combat use of the previous versions of this vehicle were eliminated, and additional requirements of the RF Armed Forces were taken into account.
The vehicle is designed for the transportation of personnel and various cargoes, towing trailed systems, as well as the installation of weapons and military equipment.
Many improvements have been made to the design of the STS "Tigr-M" aimed at increasing its operational properties, reliability, ergonomics, bulletproof and mine protection.
The machine is equipped with a new, more powerful (215 hp instead of 205 hp) domestic multi-fuel diesel engine with turbocharging and intercooled air YMZ 5347-10.
The cross-country ability of the machine on weak-bearing soils has been significantly increased due to the use of a new design of bridges with forcibly locked gear bevel differentials.
The efficiency of the vehicle's braking system has been significantly increased due to the use of new braking mechanisms, as well as the installation of an auxiliary mountain brake with a pneumatic drive, controlled from the driver's seat.
To protect the engine from small arms bullets, the hood is armored. In addition, Tigre-M has bolt locks and an improved sealing system for all doors, an air conditioning system, a FVU-100A-24 filtering unit, a PZD-16 pre-heater with increased heat output (16 kW instead of 12 kW) and an increase in the number of seats with 6 to 9 people.
STS "Tigr-M" has successfully passed tests at 21 Scientific Research Institute of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, and by the end of this year the first batch of such machines for the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation will be manufactured at JSC "Arzamas Machine-Building Plant".
