Amazon multibillionaire founder Jeff Bezos has invested in a secret rocket project known as Blue Origin.
Recently, some details have become known about the New Shepard, the first life-size spacecraft of the Blue Origin project, which is designed to send people into space. A vertical take-off and landing spacecraft - just like in science fiction movies - will be designed for three or more astronauts.
The photo shows the first Blue Origin rocket, called the Goddard, which, according to the company, “may not look like a New Shepard operational vehicle.” One of the goals of the project is to lift tourists into space up to 120 km above the Earth, allowing them to spend three minutes in microgravity before the spacecraft returns to Earth, being constantly upright. When the device approaches the surface of the Earth, the engines will restart, as a result of which the device will have to descend and land softly.
The developers did not provide details on the test flight schedule, or when New Shepard will be ready for its first flight. These guys will have to work hard - they recently received $ 3.7 million from NASA to develop a system for leaving the spacecraft by an astronaut.
