In 2003, the Chinese company Jianshe Group began to create a 7.62 mm sniper rifle for the army and law enforcement agencies. The work was completed in 2004. In 2005, a new Chinese sniper rifle, indexed JS 7, 62, was shown publicly. The JS 7, 62 rifle uses the Soviet rifle and machine gun cartridge 7, 62x54R as ammunition, which is also used in the PLA. It is possible to manufacture this rifle for export under the cartridge 7, 62x51 NATO standard.
The JS 7, 62 sniper rifle is manually reloaded and has a longitudinally sliding pivot mechanism with two lugs in the front. The rifle is equipped with a floating barrel with a powerful muzzle brake. The rifle is powered by ammunition from detachable box magazines with a capacity of 5 rounds. The rifle is equipped with a folding bipod adjustable in height and an adjustable fixed stock. The stock and pistol grip are made of aluminum alloy.
There are no open sights. For mounting optical and night sights, a Picatinny rail is installed on the receiver. Nominally, the rifle is equipped with a telescopic sight of 3x9X magnification.
The JS 7, 62 rifle was adopted by the Chinese army and special services, as well as the Bangladesh army and the Indian special forces police.
