Recently, we have increasingly had to ask the question: will we be able to build a Mistral-class ship ourselves? The answer is, of course we can. Another question is where? It is impossible to answer unequivocally to it because Russia has enough production capacity to create such ships. We will talk about them. But before considering candidates, let's remember what is the displacement of the "Mistral" itself: standard - 16,500 tons, full - 21,300 tons, maximum - 32,300 tons.

Well, let's define the possible options.

1. Shipyard "Zaliv" (Kerch). Opportunities: has a dry dock, the length of which is 364 meters, the width is 60 meters. Update: In 2013, for the first time since 1971, the removable dry dock latch was refurbished. In particular, work was carried out to clean the valve from silt, replace the metal and paint it, and completed the repair of the pumping equipment of the dock.
