Iranian anti-aircraft gun Mesbah-1 is a short-range system for providing short-range protection. The main purpose is to defeat enemy air targets at low and very low altitudes.
Mesbah-1 was created by Iranian designers on the basis of the Soviet twin anti-aircraft gun of 23mm ZU-23-2 caliber. It is a continuation of the work of the previously created ZAK "Mesbah", tentatively developed in the early 2000s. He had three installations of the ZU-23-2 type (6 barrels). There is no data on the introduction into service and production.
Structurally, the Mesbah-1 anti-aircraft artillery complex consists of four installations of the ZU-23-2 type with a total number of barrels of 8 units. The complex includes an OMS, a three-dimensional radar station (control module).
For the first time, the Mesbah-1 system was talked about in 2010, when it was presented during a demonstration of the Mersad air defense system, which was being tested and tested at that time. The system will become part of air defense units and will provide air defense of infrastructures, military units, personnel and equipment from cruise missiles, missiles, helicopters, UAVs and low-flying aircraft. Serial production began roughly in 2010. The artillery system of weapons, consisting of eight paired artillery pieces of two, is made on a rotating part, and is mounted on a wheeled chassis. Each of the four systems of the ZU-23-2 type is provided with its own ammunition supply system. The sounded rate of fire of the anti-aircraft artillery system is 8,000 rds / min.
The Mesbah-1 has a four-wheeled wide stroke from a 23mm Samavat anti-aircraft gun and is moved by a military truck.
Before combat deployment, the artillery system is installed on three supports, and the wheel travel is folded. The anti-aircraft artillery complex is fully integrated with radar guidance and observation systems and optoelectronic devices. They are installed on the roof of a separately towed cab (module). For automatic detection and guidance of the artillery complex and the determination of targets (friend or foe), a radar and optical sensors of the control module are used. The data is transmitted to the equipment of the fire control system, which automatically direct the weapons of the complex to the target. The implements are guided by the drives automatically. Shooting takes place in an automated mode, on the radar. This solution reduces human losses when the artillery complex is defeated, since a combat crew is not required to control the guns.
The anti-aircraft artillery complex is provided with the "Planar Radar Array" which provides the detection of air targets of the "missile" type at ranges of up to 30 kilometers. Additional equipment - backup control and guidance system. When operating only optical systems, the artillery complex is capable of detecting targets at a distance of up to 10 kilometers. The MSA begins to direct the guns after reaching the targets of the 10 kilometer zone. 20 seconds before entering the zone of action of the anti-aircraft artillery complex, the control module will make a decision to defeat or miss the target.
