The sniper rifle was intended to provide police and special forces for use in anti-terrorist operations.
The history of the creation of the sniper rifle "DSR-1"
At the very end of the last millennium, DSR-Precision GmbH developed and launched a sniper rifle from scratch to provide anti-terrorist actions. For about five years, the rifle was sold on the European market under the name "AMP Technical Services DSR-1". Due to the fact that the rifle was not intended for military units, the main focus was on achieving high accuracy with a small compact size. And such characteristics as strength and reliability faded into the background, due to the use of the rifle in single combat operations of the police forces.
The Defensive Sniper Rifle 1 was specially designed for the.338 Magnum cartridge, but there was a possibility of converting the rifle for shooting with.300 and.308 rifle cartridges. The weapon is made according to the "bullpup" layout, when the locking unit and the magazine are located behind the control handle.
The rifle barrel has a free arrangement, and is made with longitudinal valleys, equipped with a two-chamber muzzle brake. To increase the range and accuracy over long distances, the muzzle brake is disconnected and fired without it.
A locking lug and a special cutout fix the barrel with the breech and the receiver, and is fixed with several screws to the receiver.
Also, the barrel is protected from overheating in the form of a tubular casing with small uniform holes.
Using a sliding bolt with six projections, and turning it until the projections enter the grooves located on the breech, we perform a strong closure of the barrel bore. The bolt has a shortened design, and is complemented by a shortened handle. This type of coupling between the barrel and the bolt allowed the developers to make a lightweight receiver. It is made of aluminum alloys and is equipped at the top with a bar for docking the sighting device. The sight for the rifle is selected from the "12x56" series, it is possible to install it in front of the usual night sight "NSV-80" for using the rifle in night operations.
An application unit is fixed at the end of the receiver. The stock can be adjusted in length up to 50 mm. Shoulder support with shock absorber vertically adjustable up to 50 mm. The head pad is adjustable in height up to 20 mm.
The buttstock has a recess that creates a comfortable grip for the left hand - a specially designed addition for firing from an emphasis, for which the rifle is actually intended.
The fixation for aiming is complemented by a special rear support located inside the butt, the height of the support is 17cm.
The trigger is pulled with a warning, and according to the results of testing and use, it provides a smooth push, in which the guidance remains at a given point and is not reset. This is secured by the trigger support bearing.
The flag safety lock is located above the trigger, the middle position is the trigger lock, in which the rifle can be loaded, the rear position is the complete lock of both the trigger and the shutter. Forward position - unlocking the rifle for firing.
On the bar for mounting the optical sight, we install a sliding bipod with legs. The legs are adjustable. In the non-combat position of the rifle, the bipod is folded parallel to the bar.
To carry out shooting from the hand or with support on an additional support, the fore-end can be attached to the barrel and have 3 fixed positions.
The rifle's single-row magazine holds four.338 rounds or five.308 and.300 rounds. The store is secured with side latches.
To facilitate the replacement of the magazine, it has an enlarged cover that can also be used to support the arm.
The spare magazine is attached slightly in front of the trigger, which provides instant replacement, and the magazine suffers less from external influences.
The DSR-1 rifle shows very good results when firing at one hundred meters - the deviation does not exceed half a centimeter, the dispersion diameter is 1.5 centimeters at this range.
