We attended the final part of the Safe Environment All-Russian Army Competition in the Western Military District. It was the final, according to the results of which the best crews will take part in the "Army Games - 2016" competitions in Kostroma.
The weather, to be honest, pleased everyone without exception. Rain, fog and impassable black earth mud. This is what the environment looked like without proper photo processing. So we even felt sad at first, but by the middle of the competition the rain stopped, and then the fog cleared away. Only dirt remains.
This is basically how the competition track looked.
The organizers of the competition were so kind that, with the consent of the head of the RHBZ ZVO, Major General Chernyshov, they provided us with a radiochemical reconnaissance vehicle based on an armored personnel carrier. So that we can visit all the control points of the competition. "UAZ" there clearly would not have passed. And we, following one of the participants' cars, were able to really evaluate the entire 10-kilometer route. The impressions were over the roof. Everything can be appreciated in the video.
In general, we faced such difficulties for the first time. But army savvy can work wonders. Our operator Roman was able to install a camera in the turret instead of a machine gun, and after completing a short training course, he ended up with something that you can observe. And I used the top hatch at the stops. It was unrealistic to shoot on the move, the dirt flew over the roof of the car.
Participants' cars. Still clean. After the first circle, however, everything acquired the same color and a somewhat bumpy surface.
Dressing in armor.
Signal equipment charging.
Prelaunch briefing.
"By cars!"
Senior Judge and Commander.
Basically, all tasks are the same. Find, determine, measure, take samples. Set the signal flag (it is shot by the squib) and put data on it. In principle, everything is pretty monotonous, but considering that everything must be done in an OZK and a gas mask, the work is not easy.
Taking an air sample.
Inside the car. A video-gunner is behind the driver, a photographer is in the operator's place. The rest of the place is crammed with devices of unknown purpose.
The point judge checks the correctness and accuracy of the measurements.
Taking a soil sample.
Taking samples of vegetation. Scissors. Gloved. Brrr …
Taking a water sample. Shamanism. The sampling device is more than odd.
At the finish line.
And this is where the samples are taken. It is here that they determine what and how seriously the area is infected.
