The mega-experts who were crying about the fact that Russia would soon be left practically without nuclear missiles - screwed up again.

The Strategic Missile Forces have adopted the new Yars strategic intercontinental missile with a multiple warhead.

β€œWe accepted and put the first division on alert,” First Deputy Defense Minister Vladimir Popovkin told reporters.

PC-24 "Yars" (NATO classification - SS-27) is a Russian mobile-based solid-propellant intercontinental ballistic missile with a multiple warhead, developed by the Moscow Institute of Thermal Engineering under the leadership of Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences Yuri Solomonov.

So far, not too much is known about the characteristics of the RS-24. According to the most reliable information, the range of its action should be at least 11 thousand km, and the capacity of warheads, most likely, will be in the range of 150-300 kilotons. The KVO according to the launch data at the Kura test site does not exceed 200 meters.

In terms of its tactical and technical characteristics, the Yars missile will be located between the Topol-M, which carries a monoblock warhead with a capacity of 550 kilotons, and in the future will be equipped with three MIRVs with a capacity of 150-300 kilotons and heavy carriers of the RS-20 type. Voivode (according to NATO characteristics - SS-18 Satana), carrying up to 10 warheads with a capacity of 750 kilotons.

In addition to warheads, the RS-24 carries a complex of missile defense breakthroughs, which makes it difficult for the enemy to detect and intercept, which sharply increases its value in the context of the deployment of the US global missile defense system.

US Republican Senator John Kyle and a group of his associates were outraged by the development of the RS-24, considering it as clear evidence of Russia's violation of the START-1 Treaty. Senator Kyle said that the missile is forbidden to enter service, since it has a multiple warhead. In this regard, the senator wondered why the Russians are experiencing it.

The senator was told back then that he did not prohibit testing such a START-1 missile, but that we would take it into service and deploy it after the end of the treaty. That is, now.

Meanwhile, the Russian government has decided to allocate 24.7 billion rubles for the construction of the Vostochny cosmodrome for the next three years, Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin said today at a meeting in Korolev.

"I want to inform you and tell you good news. Yesterday, late in the evening, actually at night or early in the morning, the government decided to allocate 24.7 billion rubles for this purpose for the start of the full-scale construction of the Vostochny cosmodrome for the next three years," Putin said … These funds, the prime minister specified, are allocated "in order to create the necessary base and take the next steps after this period."

"I very much hope," Putin noted, "that the Vostochny cosmodrome will become the first national civilian cosmodrome, guaranteeing Russia full independence of space activities." He stressed that the rocket and space sector is one of the main state priorities.

The prime minister signed an order that will regulate the issues of access to the territory of RSC Energia for specialists from NASA and other space agencies, including Ukrainian partners.

Speaking about the priority tasks for the development of the national rocket and space industry for the period up to 2015, Putin stressed that the goal was to carry out a large-scale technological re-equipment of the industry.
