Pneumatic weapons have been seriously discussed for the last two decades, before that our acquaintance with them was limited to the ability to shoot in a shooting range from low-power, shattered "air". But, like any other weapon, pneumatic weapons must operate within the strict framework of the legal framework.
So, Art. 3 of the Law of the Russian Federation "On Weapons" states that there are two types of pneumatic weapons, sports (muzzle energy no more than 3 J) and hunting (muzzle energy no more than 25 J).

In any case, in each specific case of the use of "pneumatics" the case will be considered by the judicial authorities, and the qualification of the actions of the defending person will depend on the verdict of these lawyers.

Submachine gun MR-661K "Drozd"
The MP-661K "Drozd" pneumatic submachine gun was, in its own way, the "firstborn" of this technique in Russia. It was invented at the design bureau of the Izhevsk Mechanical Plant by the excellent Russian gunsmith-designer VL Cherepanov on the basis of a sport-type IZH-46 pistol. This type of weapon is a submachine gun with 30 charges and a carbon dioxide gas cylinder, outwardly reminiscent of an Israeli-made Mini-UZI submachine gun.
The latest model of this unique gas pistol with automatic equipment has gained a high rating and popularity among pistols of this segment, which has incorporated all the new technologies and design projects of the designers of the Izhevsk enterprise Baikal.
Currently, the purpose of the pistol is formulated as a pistol for recreational shooting, at the same time, the exterior of this type of weapon and its linear dimensions correspond to the submachine gun in service with a number of NATO countries.
The product MP-661K "Drozd" uses proven design innovations that were tested on prototypes.
The trigger mechanism is made electronic, firing can be carried out both with single cartridges and in small bursts. It is allowed to regulate the rate and number of cartridges when firing bursts.
The submachine gun is equipped with a high-capacity bunker loading clip. Bullets made in the form of a sphere of steel, in the amount of 400 pcs. fill the bunker. For the production of shots, special cans with carbon dioxide weighing 12 and 8 grams are used. The developed system for connecting and opening the cans allows the simultaneous use of three 12-gram gas cylinders.
Subsequent revision of the MP-661K Drozd submachine gun has improved the rate of fire of the product, which increases interest in its use. The trigger electronics are powered by six "AA" 1.5 V batteries, which are located in the forend. The MP-661K "Drozd" uses the usual dispenser MP-654K, where an expansion tank is structurally added, which provides a high rate of fire. The rate of fire is electronically controlled by a three-position switch. It is also located on the forend on the right side. The product provides for setting the duration of automatic fire (fixed setting). A set of batteries is enough to fire about 5000 rounds.
