Military service has always been a special profession in Russia. Obviously, this is due to the importance and seriousness of this area of specialties. Almost all military professions are significantly more complex than their civilian counterparts. However, it should be noted that military work today is no longer as popular and prestigious as it was some time ago. This is determined by various factors, including pay, and various social reasons, and the conditions in which military families have to live.
If we talk about the monetary component, military specialists currently receive no more than comparable professions in civilian conditions, and most often even much less. Therefore, very often graduates of military educational institutions, after completing compulsory service, leave the ranks of the armed forces for more profitable spheres of activity. And this despite the fact that it is not at all so easy to enter such educational institutions, since, as a rule, rather serious training of the future officers is carried out in them.
Considering the various social advantages of the military, one can note a tendency towards a decrease in the number of various benefits for military personnel and their families. Most of these benefits are associated with discounts on utility bills, as well as travel costs. It is obvious that such social benefits cannot be exhaustive and can hardly fully reimburse the costs of forces in some military sectors. The living conditions of many of the military, as well, are currently far from being acceptable for everyone. And although housing programs for military personnel, associated with providing the military personnel with full-fledged apartments, are now functioning and being improved, they are still not able to fill the gaps in very many regions of the country. All these problems reduce the attractiveness of military service for young professionals, and as a result, there is now a shortage of competent military experts in the country's armed forces, since many of them are engaged in civilian affairs.
A big problem is also the fact that some branches of the paramilitary forces of the Russian Federation are now being reduced. Accordingly, the servicemen remain unemployed as a result of redundancies. Obviously, many of them find it difficult to find suitable work outside the army due to the specificity of certain professions.
At the same time, it is impossible not to note that what is now in the country's armed forces is still a fairly strong reserve of its defense potential. And those who serve in the army carry out a great task of ensuring the country's military security. Each military officer, possessing unique knowledge gained in the process of training in the corresponding military institutions, is now valued at its weight in gold. In addition, in addition to the main staff, there are also various special purpose units, where the service is considered prestigious and highly paid, but of course it will be extremely difficult to get there, since there are very tough tests in such areas of the paramilitary forces.
